OUR HAPPY CLASS

Christmas Dinner πŸŽ„

Anti-Bullying Week

I was pleased to be sent this lovely work that the children have done with Mr Morgan and Mrs Challinor while I'm at home self isolating.

I am always very proud of the effort that they put into the activities and work set.

WELL DONE to you all, your work is lovely and you send a good message out to everyone about being kind to each other!

As we always say

It's NICE to be NICE!

Children in Need

We have had a lovely fun day today for Children in Need.

We started the day having a DANCE-A-THON  with Mrs Heaven's class and it was just great!

We also spent a lot of time talking about Children in Need, thinking about

Acts of Kindness

and how our actions can make other people feel good.

In the afternoon we did some Pudsey Popat and all the children worked really hard.

The fun part of the afternoon was making a Pudsey mask and book mark.

Outdoor Learning Day

We had a lovely day today enjoying some autumn sunshine and looking for our class tree.

We also collected leaves to make hedgehog pictures which will be displayed on here when they are done.

We didn't find our tree today but we are not going to stop looking!

Here are some photos of our little activity this morning.

It's the last week of a long but happy and productive term. Our new children have settled in really well and we are now a big happy school family as opposed to a medium sized happy school family.

We had some fabulous discussions today to find out what the children understood about well-being and they were amazing.

Here is a photo of their ideas. I will post more throughout the week. I'm sure it is going to be a good one to end the first half of the autumn term.

Nine Children Doing Something Nice

When we heard that a lovely gentleman was going to be 90 in October and due to the nasty virus he wouldn't be able to celebrate with his family and friends we decided that we should try and make this big and special birthday EXTRA special.

We thought it would be nice if we all made him a birthday card to open on his special day.

We did some research and did a GOOGLE search to look at some 90th birthday card designs. We all chose one that we liked and made a card for Mr Harrington.

It was a mini project for us and one that we really enjoyed. I was overwhelmed by the children's enthusiasm to make an elderly gentleman happy. I am so proud of your lovely children for showing so much empathy and kindness during these unusual times when nobody can celebrate and enjoy family time together.

Here are the photos of the process from planning to posting.

The Cards

I am so proud of the effort that all the children put into making these lovely cards I am sure as parents you are too.

Due to COVID and to keep the children safe I decided that it was best that I go to my local Post Office to buy the stamps. Unfortunately I forgot my mask. It was a good job my husband was with me and gave me his hankie to keep me safe!

Here we are on our way to the local Post

Office in Beddau to post the cards.

The children were very excited to post their cards to the lovely Mr Harrington.

You may have noticed that our lovely friend Mason isn't in the photographs. Unfortunately he has to self isolate for 14 days but he finished his card at home then he and his Mam posted the card from his home village.

Happy 90th Birthday

Mr Harrington.

Have a great day!

With very best wishes from

Seren Yr Wythnos

Here he is, our first star of the week and what a star he is! He is the youngest in our class and is trying so hard with his all of work. However he has been given this award for trying SO hard with his talking. Well done Corbyn you really are a star.

Welcome Back

Autumn Term 2020

Well we have had a lovely start to the new term. We were very lucky to be reunited as a class at the end of the summer term and settle back into the new routines of a very unusual school life.

We give a warm welcome to our new friends who have joined our class. They have all settled really well and our class is now busy and full energy and enthusiasm to learn.

We are basing our learning on the topic

What Matters To Me

The children have embraced the work and we have some lovely work in books and some excellent craft work ready to be displayed in our classroom.

Look out for some pictures in the near future of the activities that we have got planned.

We are trying to make school as 'normal' as possible in these very unusual times, sticking to routines but above all ensuring that the children stay safe. They are excellent at following the rules and never need reminding about distance and sanitising. Mrs Challinor and I are very proud of them all!

Use the home school books as much as you need to contact us but you can also use email and I will reply as soon as I can.

We are all looking forward to a healthy and happy term and so far the children are showing us that they are willing and ready to learn.

Watch this space for pictures of our activities.

With best wishes

Mrs Swain & Mrs Challinor

I am very excited to be saying

WELCOME....

To all my lovely children.

It's been a long time coming and I cant wait to be reunited with you all.

See you in the morning.

Outdoor Learning Day

What a fab photo of Harley-Joe and his brother enjoying the outdoors today, it looks like they had lots of fun. Thank you for sending the photo and taking part in exploring and enjoying being outdoors today.

This is a lovely photo of Mason happily exploring the outdoors today. We are very lucky to live in a valley surrounded by beautiful mountains that let us experience the wonders of nature on our doorsteps. Thank you to Mason and his mam for taking part in the special activity today.

Thank you to Benjamin and his mam for sending me some lovely pictures of their day today, you clearly enjoyed exploring the wildlife around your home and gardening. Thank you both for your enthusiasm when learning.

Here are some lovely pictures of Thomas enjoying being outdoors today. He really has been exploring nature. Good boy Thomas and thank you Mrs Longley for doing such lovely things with Thomas.

Half Term Holiday Is Almost Here

Thank you all so much for the video that you sent us last week. It was fantastic and even though we don't need reminding, it showed us how wonderful and special you all are!!

Thank you again for everything you have done over the past 8 weeks. Your help and support is greatly appreciated every day.

Have a great week and don't forget to close your home school on Friday afternoon and enjoy chilling with your lovely children. You all deserve a holiday so make sure to have a break and have fun!!

Hopefully we'll all be back together soon but in the meantime please take care and stay safe.

With best wishes from us all in the Speech & Language Class

This is the nicest thing ever, watch it and I bet you'll cry (happy tears of course).
Thank you again to all the parents and children for making it, you are all amazing!!!

Home Learning and Staying Safe

Summer Term 2020

I know it is a very difficult time for everyone but I want to say that I am so proud of all my children and very appreciative of all the hard work that you as parents are putting into teaching and helping your child learn at home.

It's really lovely to have so much contact with you be it emails, videos, photographs or post. It would be so much nicer to be in school but for the time being we will have to do our best and continue working hard together to ensure the children thrive as best they can.

As we didn't finish our mini topic on the Titanic maybe you could help your child do some simple research and look at some of the resources on Youtube and Twinkl. We have looked at some and the children really enjoyed learning the facts about the ship through videos and powerpoints. I always put "for children" after every search which will ensure the materials are child friendly and easy for them to understand and enjoy.

Stay in touch, stay safe and stay happy. I found a lovely quote last week which said

"Let your smile change the world

BUT

don't let the world change your smile"

There will be an end to this and we will get back to school eventually but until then we have to make the most of the situation. Sending you all my very best wishes in these uncertain times.smileyheartwink

Our Happy Class September 2109

Our Pretty Daffodils

If you take a look back at our photos you will see the fun that we had planting these daffodils in the autumn term. We put the pots in the peace garden and were very happy last week to see how much they had grown. We decided that they could be an early Mother's Day present heartsmiley

As we are talking about Transport and Journeys we decided to go on a journey of our own and travel on the bus to Pontypridd. We had a lovely time walking through the park and looking at the changes that had taken place since our last visit in the autumn term. We enjoyed looking at many interesting things in the museum after walking over the famous bridge to get to it. Thomas had the idea of counting the steps so we were also busy doing maths while enjoying a day out. We then went to our favourite eating place and enjoyed a lovely lunch before spending the last part of our trip in Pontypridd library.  All in all we had a lovely day out and really enjoyed our bus ride.
We've reached the end of another fantastic term with these fabulous children and what a lovely way to reward them after all their hard work. It was a lovely treat for a us all and Mrs Challinor and I are, as ever, very proud of the lovely children that we work with everyday. Happy Christmas everyone! wink

Our New Look Class

Autumn Term 2019

This term we are learning about clothes.  The children are enjoying the topic and we are embracing the Curriculum for Wales by listening to the pupil voice.  We made a deviation from my planning and have enjoyed some lovely work from the storybook

Aliens Love Underpants

Take a look at some of the activities we have enjoyed so far.
