We are very lucky to have such beautiful grounds to work and learn in. We are very busy in the outdoors.

Enjoying the Spring Sunshine - Dosbarth Hawthorn have been planting the bulbs into the ground from their pots and Gardening Club have been sowing lobelia seeds to take home. They also found a butterfly out of hibernation and caddis fly larvae in the pond this week. Those little tubes of leaves are the nests they build!

Follow the link to Dosbarth Elder's Bugs bugs bugs! Creating a bug shelter, hunting for woodlice and observing their movements.

Planting Sweetpeas in the Outdoor Classroom to take home from Gardening Club today! I think you'll agree we've worked hard to clear the beds since Autumn. We are looking forward to watching things grow. We can already see some flowers, onions and mint peeping through!

Gardening Club were amazed to find such big newts hiding in the weeds in the pond, and such little ones surviving the cold winter! We have enjoyed chitting potatoes this week ready for planting when the frost is no longer a threat, hopefully in 4 to 6 weeks. Also, we have spotted some lovely daffodil plants sprouting ready for flowering in time for saint David's Day!

Members of Gardening Club helped to find and identify the trees we have labelled in the school grounds after our class names. Mrs Jenner likes to keep an eye on them all.

Last Gardening Club of The Autumn Term - We have worked hard this term to clear the raised bed area ready for planting in the Spring Term. Have a look at our earlier photos to see the progress we have made. It looks bare now but we'll have green shoots growing by the Spring!

Upcycling twigs - Dosbarth Oak enjoyed collecting twigs to make beautiful Christmas Tree Decorations. They are going to look amazing!

Children In Need - Do you recognise the special character Dosbarth Birch made using leaves and branches?

Autumn Term Gardening Club - We have started clearing and weeding some of our beds ready for planting and enjoyed pond dipping where we found a diving beetle, a freshwater shrimp and lots of tiny newts!

Gardening Club. Thank you to Mrs Jenner for always volunteering for Gardening Club. Our first session ouitdoors this Autumn and we were all able to take home tomatoes, onions or garlic! We also fed Piglet the hedgehog, did a litter pick and enjoyed pond dipping for newts!

Follow the link to Dosbarth Ash to see the children exploring the outdoors to look for colours of Autumn. They made beautiful Autumn rainbows!

We have enjoyed pond dipping in Calon Y Coed. Look what we found!

Dosbarth Cherry entered the Infinite Renew Clean Energy Poster Competition, and they have a finalist!! Looking forward to a class trip to The Royal Mint as a prize.

The children have enjoyed looking for signs of Spring in Calon Y Coed. What can you see?

Dosbarth Maple have planted the most beautiful daffodils and now they have flowered for everyone to enjoy.

Dosbarth Lime are reconnecting with nature in our beautiful grounds as part of Children's Mental Health Week - February 6th to 10th 2023.

The children in Dosbarth Birch, Elder and Holly enjoyed a fabulous Launch Day for our Spring Term Topic, STEM-tastic! We explored Calon Y Coed for minibeasts, identified trees by their twigs and scavenged for house materials to keep a little mouse warm. We made bird feeders to take home for our own outdoors. What a busy day!

Dosbarth Hawthorn enjoyed exploring our local area to look at the facilities and take their own photos using ipads.
