Criw Cymraeg | Llwyncrwn Primary School

The Criw Cymraeg are responsible for encouraging the use of the Welsh language throughout the school in addition to promoting a positive Welsh ethos. All of their hard work will go towards helping us achieve the Cymraeg Campus language charter GOLD award, which they are very excited about.

A group of Blwyddyn 6 Criw members contacted Beddau Library to see if there was a possibility of them visiting to teach Welsh phrases to a community group.
We are now planning to visit in the Summer Term to teach Welsh to the Monday Club! It’ll be a busy time making resources and flashcards but a lot of hwyl!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿Eisteddfod Llwyncrwn 2025🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Diolch to some of our Y6 Criw members for helping to organise and run this year’s Eisteddfod. We had a fantastic afternoon of llefaru (reciting), canu a dawnsio gwerin from children in Years 3-6. Llongyfarchiadau to Castellau, the winning house, and a big “Diolch yn fawr” to Mrs May and Mrs James, who had the difficult job of judging this year’s performances. Diolch a da iawn pawb. Llwyncrwn’s got talent! ❤️

Now, we look forward to competing in recitation and singing competitions in the Urdd Eisteddfod in March. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Members of our Year 5 and 6 Criw have been busy rehearsing Welsh and English carols with pupils from YG Castellau and Gwaunmeisgyn Primary ready for Beddau’s Community Christmas Light Switch On. We can’t wait to perform! 🎵🎵🎵

Cymraeg Campus Bronze Award🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Marnie and Lily had a wonderful morning in Cardiff, officially receiving our certificate for the bronze award.

We are extremely proud of achieving second place in this year’s Dwlu Darllen competition. The team consisted of 5 members from our Criw Cymraeg Blwyddyn 6 who presented a group discussion on two Welsh books read in class, and also gave their opinions on favourite books and authors. Bendigedig!!!

Hwyl Yr Hydref

Our Criw Cymraeg are currently busy organising activities for our Hwyl yr Hydref festival. We look forward to meeting the Criw Cymraeg from our cluster schools, who are going to join us for a morning of Hwyl Cymraeg on September 23rd 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿😀😀🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Learning Walk

Our Criw accompanied Miss Hughes on a learning walk today to identify any areas or displays in our school where we can improve our Welsh labelling / use of the Welsh language. They are now going to be very busy making posters and labels to encourage our children to read and use the Welsh language. Da iawn Criw Cymraeg, you truly are an enthusiastic bunch! Diwrnod Shwmae!

We are currently busy planning activities for each class for Diwrnod Shwmae. Diwrnod Shwmae is celebrated every year on October 15th. The aim of Diwrnod Shwmae is to encourage people to start every conversation in Welsh. Watch this space for pics of our day at Llwyncrwn! We can't wait - Hwyl a sbri yn siarad Cymraeg yn yr ysgol

Diolch Criw Cymraeg for arranging and organising a day of fun activities for our school to celebrate Diwrnod Shwmae. We’ve had games, art, posters and hat making activities going on in classrooms, and your Welshcakes were the highlight of the day. BLASUS IAWN!!! Members of the Year 6 Criw Cymraeg enjoy reading with children from the Foundation Phase

The Criw Cymraeg lead our Welsh assemblies and introduce the phrase of the week.

They also have the very important job of presenting a certificate to a member of their class who is “Siaradwr Yr Wythnos” (Welsh speaker of the week).
